holy crap $300 for an oil change, I'm even surprised that everyone elses dealers are charging the same as my Canadian dealer is for oil changes. I live in Canada and my dealer charges me $120 for oil change, I can justify because to get the proper oil I pay $10/liter from walmart and then the dealer charges me $20 for the filter so in the end I'm only saving about $30 each oil change. So sometimes if I feel like tinkering with the car I change my own oil but lately I've just been going to the dealer, and then they wash it for me after too.

Yeah, the local dealer said it would be around $200 for a freaking oil change.

Then I found Orr Motorsport here in Minneapolis who does it for $79.99, all included.

Thing is, I got a quote from Orr Motorsport yesterday for an H&R sport spring install and they want just south of $900 for parts, labor, and alignment. That seems pretty stiff to me, given that the springs are just under $300 - is it really a $600 job for a spring install on a non-sport 530?

(PS, they're also doing my 30K service for $400; stealer charged $800 for same.)

The 300 $, ? or € service includes the two fresh air filters, the engine LL oils + filter and a iDrive reset.

I asked from four different dealers what the first oil change would cost,
and the answers where from all just that 300 €.

That and the fact that my 520d engine only needs 4 liters of oil, compared to 6 liters
in any 6 or 8 cylinder engines make me think of one thing:

This smells like a cartel!

Just changed mine yesterday, saved a few bucks but doing it yourself feels better. My ? is, how do you reset the oil change service indicator in the iDrive?

I just did send four request for quotations for the first service of a LCI -08 520dA
to two Swedish and two Estonian BMW dealers.

Let's see what they say...

Since my local dealership wanted close to $300 for an oil change on my 2004 525i, I am looking for substitutes. I am looking for a place to not only replace my oil and oil filter, but to check all fluids and replace, etc.

Does Jiffy Lube carry BMW oil? Are there any other good places you guys can recommend in the Los Angeles area that I can take my car?

Thanks guys
Tell your dealer to go pound sand. Doing an oil change on this car is no different than any other car. Actually, with the filter element design, it is easier.

However, the parts are expensive. The oil filter is $25.00. 9 qts of Synthetic is another $45.00. Most oil change places do the labor for $30.00, so $100 or so from a dealer should be right.

Jiffy Lube should have the parts, but you can always call or go in with your own filter and oil.

DON'T GO to Jiffy lube. They poured oil in my daughter?s master cylinder. I had to have the whole damn brake system flushed and it ruined the master cylinder seal. Go to BMW CCA website and see if you can find an independent shop that has experience with BMW's.

My dealer charges $95 for an oil change.

Does anyone in Chicago know how much Perillo charges for an engine oil change on a 545i manual?
