Right, cars at 49k miles, Due an oil change. Im happy to get the castral oil that is recommended but can someone tell me the exact oil im suppose to be getting so i dont get it wrong!

I got a 2005 530d

How much will i need? Was thinking 5 litres or sumthing

(P.S. tryed doing a search but other people were trying to use cheaper oils)

Hiya mate,you'll need a little more than 5 litre's.......8.5 litre's to be exact!It's castrol edge 0w-30 Turbo diesel.

Mine's an August 05 build with the dpf(diesel particulate filter)so mine must be different as my car 100% require's the 0w-30 oil,wish they would make it easier for people to just check the car's oil requirement's in the user's manual.

well the manual says only let an authorized BMW dealer change your oil. thats how they cover their ass and make $$$ (dont have the GBP sign on my keyboard)

So is it 7.75 liters or 8.5 lol.. I cant beleave theres that much oil in there!!

And thats a damn good price on the ebay link mate! Thanks!

I think my car has a dpf (diesel particulate filter) as well and iv been recommended to change it to.. but not sure where that might be

diesel particulate filter apparently refers to a filter in the catalytic converter

Mate, the dpf is a service item you can see when it needs replaced in the service section of idrive. However, the DPF is bloody expensive to replace ?1K. I have about 40K miles before mine needs done, i doubt you need yours done.
