Hi ppl!

I have a question about Oil change! I made my first Oil change on arround 25.000 km (around 15.500 miles) in BMW service. Now i have Castrol Oil inside and i have made till today around 38.000km (around 23.500 miles). What i dont like is this: In my service menu, it says that i have to change my motor oil for 12.000 km. That means that i can drive again 25000km with the same Oil in my engine! Before i bought my BMW, i used to change oil on every 10.000km (6.200 miles).

So, what do u think? Should i chang the oil now, or wait for the BMW-Serice-Menu recomended one? I vote for Oil change! U?

Thnx in advance!

You did change your oils at a qualified BMW dealer last time?

If so, OK, but if you went to your cousins garage...

Yup, i was in BMW dealer service here in Vienna. Also, i would put Castrol Oil and not some "no name" Oil inside.. I just have a feeling that 25 Kkm is tooo much! I have seen how the Oil looks after 15 Kkm. Huhhh..

Will it be bad for my BMW if i change the oil?

No, you can change your oil every 5,000Km if you want, but you will be wasting your money. BMW is not going to ruine its reputation with engines broking because the computer recommends 25.000Km changes. If they recommend this, it's because they are sure this is well below the security thresholds.

This is my 4th BMW, I always followed the "car inspection" recommendations and never had a problem.

Besides this, Castrol will be happy...

If you leasing, do what BMW says. If you will own the car in a few years, use common sense and change the oil

Nope i have no leasing on my car.. I payed it in cache, and i want to drive it for few years cause i really like it! I have also checked few oil tests and ok i agree that the oil can last for 25Kkm but only if it is treated "like this and like that". I am going to chage it today!

Thnx for answering guys..

yes it will

I have had my car for 2 years now. I just change my oil 2 days ago with better oil "Lubrolene REVO G-SPEC 5W-40" and it is much better than Mobile 1 or Castrol.
The engine is less nosie and much smoother.
about the km well most of the BMW dealer say to change when the light is on but lot of people say the the computer is wrong.
I know for a fact that oil is cheeper than engine so I change my every 7000km to 8000km so the my engine is in good nick.
The longer you change the oil, the engine will take alot of stress and crap builds up too.
