Of course we have to use Synthetic:

1) Which Brand: AmsOil, Castrol, Citgo, Kendall, Mobil-Extended performance, RedLine, Shell-Quaker/Havoline, Valvoline,
2) What Grade: (S0W-10 to 10-40)
3) After 75,000 miles on car What type: Synthetic, High Mileage-Synthetic Blend, Valvoline Max Life-Synthetic
4) When: Around 5, 7.5, 10, 15 k Miles

5) Oil Filter: Brand, At what mileage,
6) Air Filter: Brand, At what mileage,

Any recommendations / suggestions / experiences, PLEASE

I use 0w40 Mobil gold and have done 35K km on the clock as far ,oil and filter changed every year. Both air and oil filters are genuine BMW parts

Comments on Mobil Gold oil 0w40: No improvement in terms of Noise, smoothness, performance or consumption = No good!

I think if u change your oil every 10K or once a year, u shouldn't bother to use those "high mileage" engine oil.

Go by the BMW handbook and change oil when the iDrive tells you.

Use only genuine filters.

I have Shell oil now.
I suppose the Mobil1 is the best one.

I believe you are really over thinking this issue. All those brands are good. Stick with the owner's manual recommendations plus i drive and enjoy the car. I have a 1995 318 with 155 k miles that has followed the service interval lights since day 1. It has not fallen apart! Fred

Is E60 sharing oil between engine and transmission? I recall some days ago BMW promoted they use just one oil for both on 7er.

My mileage is at 91,287 on my 04'. I have been performing my own oil changes at about 7,500 miles using synthetics. I started with Castrol 5W30, but recently have switched to Lubro Moly. You can get it online, several sources. The reasoning was after doing some online research I found that Lubro Moly met a higher standard, and I have had excellent results with their other products, Jetron, and valve cleaner.
I use the standard oil filters.

No; engine and transmission oil are very much separate.
