My Ride: On Order, due in May - 2007MY 530D SE, Silver Grey, Black Dakota, Auto, Brushed aluminium shadowline, sports seats / wheel, hi fi speakers, mats, space saver wheel and a few more bits
Default

6 days and only 250 miles - I am following the run in procedure but would love to go to sport mode and have fun. Do I really have to wait till 1200 miles ( work journey unusally close so only do 12 miles a day) should I go for a long run or just be cautious and tame the beast for a bit longer

My opinion - go ahead and have some fun, but don't go too mad too often.

yes you should BUT you have to drive in way to speed and moderate and more aggressive, do not use before break-in the DS mode and do not go over 3500-4000 rpm,
doing this I already did 210 km/h at 3000 something rpm that is enough for starting? be patient it will pay you

If you go for a long run, don't use cruise and keep varying your speed. That will drive the guys driving along with you nuts, but your engine will be broken in by the book.

once you reach 500miles give it a shot go fill throttle once... after the car is warmed up. you'll be fine. stretching its legs a little is ok. just dont do it every day before you reach 1250 miles.
