I've seen several of these advertized recently and not one of them were originals, though the sellers wouldn't volunteer this info.... Check http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ for ET and size combo of the originals. The fakes often come in different sizes and even with 74.1 mm centerbore (E39) instead of the original's 72.1 mm centerbore.

Are they being billed as OEM? If so, something for Trading Standards or the US equivalent.

Hm, advertised was the wrong word. i'm referring to classified ads from private sellers for used items, primarily on ebay Germany and on the Danish equivalent. On one occassion, the seller changed his ad after I corresponded with him and I honestly don't think he knew they were fakes so I think he was dissapointed... The others seemed to know and reluctantly fessed up when queried, but it wasn't info they volunteered which I find dubious to say the least. One guy was adamant that his E39 m5 166's were the real deal and we left it at that... Caveat emptor

Have you tried asking your local stealership if they have any used alloys that have come off someone's motor for sale? Sometimes they do have these for sale at pretty good prices just to make space. I would be inclined to ask the question.

Hard to tell by just the front picture alone. The inner side of the wheels should have BBS/Made in Germany or BMW stamped along the spokes.
