Had F1's on a 330. Now I have used F1's for years on Subarus and they are very very good tyres. However, on the 330 they wore VERY quickly, 15k and the rears were almost slick, and the fronts didn't last much longer. This was in comparison to Bridgestones Turanza that came with the car, 22k for the rears down to 3mil, and about 40k for the fronts again down to 3mil.

I have heard good things on the Vredesteins and Falken 452. I fitted the Falkens to the rear of my 535d, so far very pleased, very quiet compared to the Conti's.

I assume you only need one tyre due to a puncture ? If so, don't mix brands on the same axle.

I also thought it's best not to mix brands on the same axle, so ended up forking out ?211 yesterday for another Conti (though a Sport Contact 3, not SC2 as originally specced on the car). As both were the same price, figured the 3 ought to be better than the 2...? When the other side needs changing, I'll put another SC3 on there also.
Reading the tyre reviews, it seems that Vredestein Sessantas are particulary well rated. Might try these whenever I come to change both tyres at the same time.

Ive just managed to get 20K out of the rears of my 535d running Conti's SC2 (172M rims). Some good advice in this thread, especially for UK owners. Those Falken look like a deal for a ?135 compared with ?224 for a Conti.

BMW are contracted to use a certain tyre, decided at time of manufacture. I have just replaced the original 275/30/19 Conti Sport 2 with a Michelin Pilot Sport 2 after 15k miles, and the difference is staggering. Yes, they are ?260 a tyre, but on a ?50k 535d that is to be expected and required to get the grip required for the torque. In the EVO review the Michelin is over a second per lap quicker and much more progressive in grip loss. Don't get me wrong, the Contis are good, but then why bring out a revised design to the CS2 so quickly in the CS3? Michelin has used the PS2 for a few years now and has F1 technology. Also, the new M5's int he showrooms are specced with Michelin PS2's, as are the M3's. I have even had reports from my brother who works for BMW of owners returning M3/M5's to have Michelins fitted!! Besides that, I have always found them to last longer which means they work out the same price in the end. Att the end of the day it is all about personal preference and as long as car and driver are happy, long live the Ultimate Driving Machine.

+1

PS2's are great but not the best in the wet... But I'd buy them again! They seem to be wearing quite well compared with the poor Dunlop runflats I had before!

M5 are OEM'd with PS2's now? They used to be CS2's?

I fitted Falken 452's on the rear of my 530d, and so far I have been impressed. Not sure they will get the mileage of the previous RE050's but so far the cost/wear rate equation still looks favourable for the Falkens.

Performance wise they are definitely quieter than the Bridgestones, although I am not sure they have such good wet weather grip - dry grip is probably better than the Bridgies. They are certainly a minimum of 95% as good in most areas, better in some, and for around half the cost.

I am going to try them on the front next

I'll be getting Goodyear F1 GSD3's fitted tomorrow, cost at my local tyre specialist @ ?182 each for the rears. Seems a good deal and I had GSD3 on my old S3 and they performed very well.

I ordered a pair of CS2's earlier in the week and was told they arrived today. Going to get them fitted tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if this has a positive effect on my crosswind issue although I doubt it.
