Early 2008 5501 with non-runflats. Currently have about 17k on them. How long before I should expect to have to replace?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
It's my understanding you should get about 20,000 miles out of the rear tires and close the 30,000 from the fronts. The problem is two fold, staggered wheel sizes, so you cant really rotate normally, and the negative camber BMW specifies.....those two factors make these cars eat tires!

I've got 27k on my Bridgestone Potenza RFT and I can't believe how much is left- It looks like there's at least 6/32nd left. I drive pretty aggressively as the sport pkg is so great- but these tires should be long gone I would think. There was a post some months ago where someone else was reporting similar. My buddy has an 05 545 with Dunlops and they've never lasted 10k due to noise- I think they switched in '07 (mine is first months production) and it seems to be working.
They are useless below about 25dF however but otherwise I'm pretty happy. Was thinking I wouldn;t replace them due to high cost and the RFT but if they last 35k I think I will.

How have your current tires been wearing? I know drivers who can take a set of tires down to the cords in 5K mikes ... others will dry rot before they wear out. Two months ago I swapped out [new wheels and tires] my Bridgestone RFTs (summer UHP) at 26k miles and they were at about 50% - I'll probably put the original wheels and tires back on in June and run them for another 15k or so OR until then are too thin to be safe.

Rudy, I see that this embedded thread was about 18 months ago, could you please bring us up to date with your tire experiences since then. Are you still on the OEM Sport Contact2's or have you changed. If so to what and how do they perform?
Thanks
Kevin
