Odometer swap?
Just curious, but is it possible to perform an odometer swap and have it pass by the dealer?
Let's say down the road when I hit past the 50,000 mile mark, and warranty expires...and say something mechanical goes wrong then... can I install another odometer that has lower miles and bring it in for service under warranty still? Assuming you have NOT been updating your mileage with them periodically.
I know, it's a scam... but could this work?

i dont think anyones gonna chime is.. i thought i mighta sorta heard (lol) that sometimes occasionally people from bmw na kinda sorta read these threads on the forums.. SOOOO.. on that note.. your beat buddy.. i doubt ANYONES gonna put in there 2cents on the risk they may incriminate themselves.. (sounded lawyer-ish right?) lol..and i agree.. it would be interesting to read..
Yes you can swap the odometer.
No it will not pass since they record your mileage everytime you
bring your vehicle in for service.
I am not sure if repair shops all share the vehicle data
through the same system but I know BMW dealers do.

To me....it just isnt worth it. I got the extended warranty and maintenance plan and Im glad I did. It has a better selling point when I sell the car before the F10 comes out as well. You will be sitting there nervously like I wonder if theyll find out somehow. It is probably embedded in the ecu or something. They arent just gonna look at the odometer and be like oh ok. I dont think BMW is that stupid. I wouldnt be suprised if BMW does check these forums for feedback. Id love to have that job...just relations in the forums and what not

You think manufactures are that dumb? The cars computer will flag that like a Christmas tree in multiple places and record it in the computer. Once they plug your car into the diagnostic machine theyll know. Its not 1960 anymore.

For crying out loud, just buy yourself an extended warranty already.
