My Ride: 2006 525i
Model Year: 2006

Hello All,

New member here. Just acquired a 2006 CPO 525i with 45,000 km. I'm loving the car so far, but I've encountered a strange issue. My car is a Canadian-spec model equipped with daytime running lights: the inner halogen bulb of the headlight cluster is on whenever the main Xenons (outer lights) are off (i.e. during the daytime). When idling and parked against a wall, I can see the halogens dimming very slightly every few seconds, as if they're momentarily getting less power. If I rev the engine above idle, the problem goes away. Also, the Xenon lights are always fine (rock solid beam), even at idle.

Should I be concerned about this? The dimming only happens at idle, and it's very slight. Other people wouldn't even notice it - I just pay attention to such things... The car otherwise runs perfectly, with no errors or warnings.

Thanks,
cinergi

Alternator/Generator, its pretty normal...........basically as your RPM drops the amount of charge going to the battery drops a little, the dimming should only be very slight however as you have indicated already.

Oh, and welcome btw

Congrats on the new (to you) car and enjoy the forums!! BTW, slight dimming of the lights is normal, just keep an eye on it, or as it's a CPO take it to the dealer and let them check out the alternator etc.!
