That's why I have never driven that fast. If I was in Germany, I certainly would when conditions permitted it.
Absolutely!!
I am going to be there again in a couple of weeks and should be hitting the derestricted part early on a Sunday morning -- I just hope there are no road works!

That's worrying about the plane tracking speed. No doubt they have something similar this side of the pond. And as for getting caught doing 168 mph -- well good luck!

Funily enough, in Germany (where I lived for 10 years) the problem is slowing down quickly enough from the derestricted section into the restricted section -- I was caught once and got away with points and a fine, but a colleague of mine actually lost his licence for a month because he did not slow down enough in time. And yes, the Police do deliberately position the cameras to catch you 1 meter behind the 200m "slowing down tolerance" within the restricted speed section So beware when travelling through Germany -- make sure you brake on time or hard if you plan on taking your car to the limiter!

Yes. That is instant suspension... Hopefully he'll have a good lawyer.

thanks for the heads up Calton, ocean parkway and the robert moses causeway are definitely 2 popular spots to have a little fun, but not worth losing the license. I would never think to look up over there, more worried about all the damn deer that come out in the evening.

beware theres a similar air trap as well on the atlantic city parkway..... friend of mine learnt the hard way when he decided to try his luck in craps a few years back but got busted (no pun intended) at 2AM when a spotlight from up above suddenly appeared from nowhere & a voice from helicopter told him to pull over at the end of highway greeted by 3 state troopers at road block... license revoked, car impounded & arrested on the spot for speeding 150MPH!!
