I hardly have any time to swing by a dealer to pick up an accessories catalog but does anyone know off hand if the catalog does offer a replacement for the ashtray? Maybe like a little coinholder or cuppy hole.

There is, I remember this discussion a long time ago. Some folks wanted a place to store change in something other than the hard plastic ashtray. Do a search, it's in this forum somewhere.

Now that's really news. To date we have been relying on a retrofit to the driver's ash tray which hasn't attracted a big following so far.

I have the non-smokers kit. Perversely, you seem to get less cubby holes! The area at the back of the armrest is blanked off with a piece of maple (anthracite).

if you look at the thread link posted above, you'll find some pics of the ashtray replacement for non-smokers -- it is essentially exactly the same, but lined with a rubbery surface rather than the heat-proof plastic, so that the coins rattle a little less. But the shape and size are identical.

It is difficult to figure out with cubby holes for the rear. I have Antracite wood car (November 2003) non-smoker , no power outlets, no buttons (seat heating or whatever) and no wood on the rear panel and I have a cubby hole. So it is either BMW stopped doing cubby holes when they introduced wood for the rear panel or
they do not do them if you have power outlets, smoking version or buttons for the rear seat heating. Sofar I have never seen a wood cubby hole in the rear.
