Someone who owned an 2008 M5 offered me to swap his taillights (LCI) with mine (non LCI) because he is selling the car and the lights has been tinted.

I know that I just need Bruce's cable to get off the error message. However, does he (the LCI Car) needs any special cables for fitting the non-LCI lights?

Please let me know..

If you ask Bruce, Im pretty sure that would not be a tough thing for him to do a reverse swap, cable adapter. But if you do that you might aswell just get new lights and adapter cables for yourself.

Yep, I did ask Bruce whether the LCI cars needs any special cables to fit non-LCI lights.

I met the guy just now and he asked me whether I want to swap my taillights with his for FREE!

Win win for you, but for him he has to get some sort of conversion cables to make it work on his side as well. Jump on this one before the offer changes!

I am sure he will change his mind if he knows that he would not be able to fit my taillights to his car.

It should be pretty easy to build a convertor for an LCI car to use the non-LCI lights but I suspect the LCM will not be able to handle the power consumption on normal bulbs. Infact the whole idea of moving to LEDs is the lower power that the bulbs use.

yep coz the dealer that is buying the car does not want the tinted lights. That was why the current owner asked to swap mine with his.
