Default No reset showing only "OK"

Hey guys,

I just purchased a 2004 525i. I recently did a full tune up on the car, and was trying to reset the service intervals when I came across a problem. I went and searched high and low for different ways on resetting the oil light. I am using the odometer button to reset it, but the thing is when it should read "RESET", it shows "OK".

When I hold on "OK", it goes back to the date and nothing was reset.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

On the iDrive, click on that item, it will prompt you with "Reset", click again, that's it. No need to use the trip-odometer reset button for serverice reset.

Just tried it with the Idrive, and there is no option under anything that says "Reset" other than the Emissions and State Inspection. Another thing is that ALL of the service options all show -----. Nothing in miles or anything. I tried resetting the service schedule for the State Inspection, and once I change the date, it goes right back to the default of 00/0000.

I have been searching all day and cant find anything on this weird thing.

The idrive doesn't allow you to reset the service intervals. I think the emissions and Filters are the only one you can reset from iDrive. If you are indeed doing it properly and it won't reset. Then try using DIS. If that doesn't work then you need to check the oil level sensor. Someone here was having the same issue and that ended up being the problem.

Just noticed that you said everything was reading ---, that means you have somehow lost your CBS Data. It won't reset because there is no starting data point. Now, you definitely need DIS, you have to use DIS and go maintenance then reset CBS data.

I just endured this headache so....did you first push in the "check" button on the blinker stalk, if not do that first. Then you push the odometer button until you see the oil display and the hold that until it says RESET. Then release and immediately press the button again until you see the 15000 displayed. It was and will always be a trial and error effort ie PITA process until 2nd nature.

So I looked up some older threads regarding the DIS software.

I am leaning towards purchasing this one.

What do you guys think? Is it a complicated process to go about resetting everything? Just my luck.

You have the right idea on how to reset the the indicators but you are going about it the wrong way. Texasmr2 has the right instructions. If you want to watch it done first here is a video.
