Help! A/C worked great for years. Drove to work this morning and everything was ok. At end of day, started car, was very warm inside, but a/c never started! Tried manual settings...still nothing. Turned car off and removed key. Waited, restart, still nothing. Hit defrost, tried manual fan settings, etc...still nothing. Checked all fuses and they were fine. Can't even get vents to open and circulate outside air. Any ideas on what my issue is? What else can I check...or is it time to head to the dealer? Thanks for the help.

sounds like the final stage resistor. if you're under warranty, nothing to worry about. if you're not, it's not a particularly expensive part (<$150), although I'm not sure if it's easy to get to. it's under the passenger side dash.

Bummer ... my suggestion = don't try a general AC repair shop ... IMHO most are not familiar with nor equipped to diagnose and repair BMWs. Hourly rate might be lower but wasted time greater. Your dealer has access to info and resources specifically for your car. But, it's times like this [post-warranty] that BMW ownership can be very expensive.

Good luck ... stay cool if you can!
