Night-Vision will become an option in spring 06 on the E60/61
For all previously built E60/61's it will be retrofittable, but no pricing yet.

sounds good. Just talked to Hobi..... He can do it already now but one just has to buy the damn night vision camera which is quiet costly 1500USD......and then just plug it to the I-drive interface.

But I wonder how much the retrofit kit will be..... Plus work I bet you it will be at least 2500 USD

Iceman, will this be available on US models or will we be getting screwed out of another option?? (ie Power Fold Mirrors, Massage Function Seats, Individual)

It's a FIR (Far Infrared) system. The thermal imaging camera sweeps the roadway following the direction of the car, and detects heat signatures to render images of objects as far as 300 meters away. You can apparently zoom in on objects as well.

It's not as excited as showing gear and rpm on HUD. Not interested.
Oh, nightvision + filter = James Bond's X-Ray vision
I'll change my mind if it's possible. Anyone remember Sony Camcorder made sometime back that if you add IR filter, you'll be able to see James Bond's X-Ray vision, but in monochrome.
