Newbie question re MP3

I have a 2005 545i with the Logic 7 audio system, 6 disc changer and nav. I assume I have the right equipment to play mp3s... Does anyone have information about bitrate and file system that might be causing the discs I burn to not be recognized?
According to the windwo sticker, I paid $1800.00 for this stereo. This is pretty basic functionality in much cheaper systems. I've already given up on the hands-free bluetooth. I'd hate to write off another feature on a car I've paid this much for.

Pro nav (that's the nav you get in the USA) IS the right equipment, but the software needs to be updated in October. The current software version is unable to provide MP3 playback. As of today, MP3 playback is ONLY possible on cars with radio pro or nav bus (available in EU only).
I guess you're in the US - therefore you'll have to wait a couple months and then get the software update.
Just keep reading this forum and you'll be one of the first people to know when the new software with MP3 playback is out. You will probably even know it earlier than your dealer...

Will this update allow the CD changer these capabilities, too? I think in the e90, it will....

[/quote]Thanks for the clarification and the welcome. I am in the US, as you guessed. They didn't bother to tell me MP3 playback wouldn't work at the dealer and the manual says it works too. That's a little frustrating. I suppose I can wait three months though. I feel I should also say I am estatically happy with the car otherwise. I just got it professionally cleaned after taking the kids to the coast. It looks like it did when I drove it off the showroom floor.
