I've never managed to get an MP3 disc to work in my car (E61 530d, Logic7, no NAV)
I can'r remember which radio I have (business/pro?)
The car's just come back from a service and appears to have new software (main difference so far is that the seatbelt warning takes longer to come on)
Should I expect to be able to use MP3 discs via the changer or front slot?

No sat Nav, Car is UK spec. How do I tell if I have a business or Pro radio?
I should know but cannot remember.

Waiting for - 535d Sport, Silver Grey, Foldy Mirrors, 172 19",Logic7,Pro Radio,Through load,Heated Front Seats,High Gloss shadowline,Black Maple,Headlight wash,Sun Protection Glass.
Pro Radio shows multiple stations on the tuning scale....Ive ordered this so I can play MP3's on the single CD player.
However what I cant say is wether the non pro veiw is different...so in summary you can thank me for confusing you more

I read in the BMW TIS that only two audio systems are available. One called the M-ASK (Multimedia Audio System Kontroller) and the other CCC (don't remember what it stands for). The first one permits business nav and the second one allows pro nav. So my guess is that if you don't have any nav, you just have a M-ASK like every cars with business nav but disabled. If I'm right, just upgrading to CIP 17.x of later must allow you to read mp3 in the front player.

Being a tight git and wanting to spend the dosh on other toys, I havnt gone for Nav but did want MP3 playback and track display/selection in the 6.5" screen. Was told that the only way to get MP3 was by going for PRO radio as an option. The CIP level I am assuming will be the latest as its coming in October.

Pro radio is REQUIRED for MP3 playback.
Having BUS radio, you will NOT be able to play MP3's.
