Hello everyone. I have been reading many threads on this site so far and wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
I was for a long time Mercedes fanatic, but thats besides the point. My warranty was up and wanted to take on experience another German Automobile. My brother is a Bimmer fanatic. I was always helping him with all the mods he has had with all his BMWs. I recently purchased a 2008 535Xi from a third party dealer. Of course, YES i purchased a 5 years 1000,000 mile warranty with the car. The E60 is still under Man. warranty. I have done many mods on several different Mercedes and BMW vehicles. A recently have done a couple mods on my E60. This is where I ran across this fantastic forum.
I hope this is the place to post this, but if not, please advise me otherwise.
My name is Aris. Im in New Jersey 201 area code. 32 Years old and like I said owned many Mercedes cars and first BMW car ever is this E60. I love to MOD any car and have a passion for doing so. I am not by any means saying that I am the best...
As for my questions, I never owned a BMW before and I am quite excited. So any help would be gladly appreciated.
1. Any known issues with the 2008 535xi 6-Speed Manual Trans.?
2. Any preferable mods in performance that would not kill my wallet or kill my engine (light up a CEL)?
3. Can I change my shifter and is there a DYI for that in this forum or elsewhere?
4. Has anyone tried the H8 LED Angel Eyes mod on their E60?

Welcome to the forum Aris. Other than the known concerns with the N54 engine, there are no known problems with the 535 xi. I have one myself and it is a great car (with the exception of the aforementioned HPFP related issues that I have experienced.
The N54 engine is a very tunable engine. For the E60 platform the choices are however more limited than for the 335s. I don't think there is an upgraded intercooler available. However, there are plenty of cheap go fast mods. To increase engine performance you could try a flash, procede or juice box (J
. There are a couple of companies that offer flashes ranging from about $500 to about $2000 (such as GIAC, ESS, LET and Dinan with Dinan being the most expensive). The cheaper performance mods are procede and JB - for which you will have to splice into the wiring. A good flash can get you an additional 50 whp or more out of the car. Please be aware that any of these mods could cause your warranty to be voided.
A couple of vendors also have exhausts for the car.

Where can I look for answers on those?

I'll be carrying ECU remaps soon when my shop opens so you can wait for an ECU remap which is easier and BETTER than a piggy back. As for Sprint Booster, I'd rather get an ECU remap instead.
