I just purchased a 2008 525xi. The wheels on it now are alright but after the winter i want to put M5 wheels on. I am not sure what I would need though because of the difference in offsets and the all wheel drive in my car. Could you guys point me in the right direction of the wheels that I would need? Thanks for any help.

No can do on the M5, M6 or 172 wheels my man. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Not sure if you like my 19" wheels, but those will work.

Do a search under "xi wheels." You will find plenty of discussion as to what will fit and what won't. It's all about getting wheels with the correct offset. The xi models sit higher than the i models, and the hubs stick a bit farther out. This means that the OEM wheels BMW makes for the i model will not fit the xi model. Now, BMW does make a model 124 OEM 18" wheel in both i and xi, and it's the only "official" OEM wheel in a staggered setup for the xi.

Now, if you want to go with 19's, forget OEM's...will have to go aftermarket. Some are good quality, some are garbage. I'd suggest going with aftermarkets made specifically for BMW's so your hub openings are to OEM spec.

I have the same wheels as C's bimmer above, as we both have 530xi's which can be found at velocitymotoring.com or modbargains.com. You can also see if you like anything on tirerack.com, but make sure you plug in your model as the xi so you get the right offsets for you wheels.

Good luck!

Pingy - Don't mislead this guy. The 166 wheels will NOT work for the xi.

The m6 replicas from modbargains and jlevisw would work as they have a +38 offset. Tirerack sells some wheels that look somewhat like m6 wheels as well. You can get m5 replicas with, I believe, +40 offsets (wheels intended for e46 or e90 vehicles) that will work too. The center bore is the same on the e60 and the lug nuts are 5 X 120 mm as well. The csl replica wheels that the two other guys that have posted look quite nice as you can see from their pictures.

I bought my 528xi intending to get either csl replicas or m6 replicas in 18 inch, but I think I'm going to stick to the stock 17's as they look quite good with the alpine white vehicle.

Hope this helps,
Mark

OK "C". That is one SMOKIN' LOOKIN" 530xi. I am looking at a 2006 530xi and was getting frustrated with the lack of information regarding springs and wheels. You may have just changed my mind about the purchase. What offset (ET) are those 19" wheels? Do you run snows? On what wheels? Any issues (at all) with the springs? Please be as detailed as possible. PM me if you'd like with the details. Thanks!

Hey Bored1,

Do a search under this topic....has been discussed ad nauseum. Don't be so bored, and let your search button work for ya.

I have the same wheels as C, one of the best options for 19's with an xi...offset on these in staggered setup for the CSL fronts are ET40, rears ET45. Tires: 245/35 in front, 275/30 in rear. BMW suggests 43 in front and 55 in rear if doing staggered, but these offsets on the CSL's work fine. ET43 all-around if going with non-staggered, per BMW specs.

Most of us run a separate set of snow tires and wheels for the winter...17's or 18's. I use my OEM 17's with the all season OEM tires, however many put Blizzak's or comparable winter/sport tires on for the white stuff.

Good luck!
