Default New transmission, reset adaptations after CDA7 code now the DSC says Engine Invalid

So I got this 2004 525i E60 for free. Transmission was completely roached after surviving 269,000 miles. Got a reman transmission and installed it. Reset the transmission adapts and made sure everything was right in the module side of things. Gave the car to my lady as a gift since I have a 535xi and she said the service engine light came on. Scanned it and the CDA7 code came up. After vigorous forum reading a 9/10 people said resetting the DME adaptations solved this issue for them, so I went with the majority. As soon as I hit the reset learned values button on the Snap On Scanner the DSC light came on. Went through the full procedure to a T made sure my voltage was good and the DSC is throwing a “5F78: Engine ECU Error: Status Receipt Engine Invalid” I know with most cars the “ABS/TSC” system will auto reset and sort itself out after a few miles, but I’ve put almost 20 miles on it of stop and go and some highway driving and it will not go away. The weather is nice and peachy up here now, but I just worry about her not having the DSC in a RWD car.

I could have sworn that error had something to do with the LMA. Did you keep your TCM or used a new one when you swapped out your transmission? When you put the car in reverse check to see if the reverse lights come on. I believe it's a coding error in the LMA causing the issue in the DME due to a communication issue.

The issue with your DSC after resetting the adaptions in the DME I don't know about. That is usually straight forward and I have never had any issues. Maybe try resetting the DSC and see what happens. This may be a case where the scanner you're using is not the best thing to use as in BMW has its own proprietary software to perform maintenance.

I kept my old TCM and coded everything for the new one. I will try and get ahold of a laptop to use the BMW software, when I reset the adapts on the DME the CDA7 code went away, but the DSC issue arose.

Yes, the reverse lights come on when the shifter is in reverse.

Default UPDATE: Resolved

So I let the car sit for 4ish hours with the battery unhooked, doors closed and windows up to give the modules time to discharge and hard reset. Put the battery back in after fully charging it just to be safe and 0 codes and everything is reading normal. This car makes me scratch my head sometimes, but I love it!

That is one thing about BMWs. If the battery is going bad or discharged you will get a lot of errors that don't make sense.
