I put a set of PS2's on my prior 997, and I have say they were good but not spectacular. Personally, I consider them to be a good tire, but generally overrated and overpriced. The PS2's were actually cheaper than a new set of the P-Zeros that came as the OEM tires, but I think there are better tires, and particularly better tires for the money. My car runs 19s (295 or 305 in the rear) and I paid over $500 per rear tire at that time (cost me just under 2K for the set, with mount and a road force balance).

Well, in the recent C&D compro test, PS2 only finished mid-pack for dry weather performance (although tops in wet weather) so your observation seems consistent with the comparo's results.

Would you recommend spacers then? Am I going to experience any problems with the spacers? I keep hearing that spacers are not recommended! Confusing

OEM M5 166s with M5 offsets, yes you will still need spacers. even though its a wider tire, the wheel will still be in the same placement because of its offset. Id suggest though sticking to recommended sizes 275 in the rear though.

I've used the Ventus series - K104'2 and now V12's - for a couple of years. I've had the V12's for about a month and they're proving to be a pretty capable tire. I've yet to discover their wet-weather performance, however, thanks to the SoCal climate. They offer a $50 rebate right now if you buy a set of 4, so that sweetened the pot for me a little. The entire staggered setup, with rebate, cost me approx $650 installed (I'm on stock sizes - "18's).

I won't write off the HZR III's yet. Tire rack loves them and most reviewers agree. For the price vs tread wear vs performance they offer alot of tire for the money. Light years ahead of the old HZR II's.

Falken 452's are pretty nice tires.

Hankook's are solid also. My friend has had both of them and he liked the Ventus over the Falkens (had two sets of the 452's). Thought they wore better through there life cycle then the Falkens. He runs his car hard though on the streets. Plus tracks a few times a year. Currently he has the Invos on and so far he says they grip much better then the Falkens and Hankooks and overall a better ride and tire in general. But Invos do get up there in price over some of the others on your list. My buddy buys a new set of tires every spring and once in awhile he'll run two summers on one set. If a tire pleases him I always know I'll have no issues with it.

Overall your list is pretty solid and chances are you'll be quite happy with any of them.

My PS2 show minimal wear after 5500 miles (wear rating of 500 is hard to beat) and were very competitively priced. Certainly one of the best ever.

Michelin PS2 ranked by Tire Rack reviews as #1 or #2 in every category and #1 in Road and Track as compared to 3 competitors.

I'd driven about 15,000 kms on a set of the Hankook Ventus V12, and for price they are great, but I did find they performed quite poorly in the wet....not that confidence inspiring compared to my previous P Zeros (yeah, I know massive price difference here aswell). So if it rains alot where you live, I'd consider carefully.

In the Dry they were were fine.

Also not sure if it was just bad luck, but I had a chuck of rubber come off the tirewall of the hankook when I sadly kerbed my rim. So I'm not sure about the strength of the tire wall either or it was just a freeky kerb.

I bought them for the price so I don't regret, but I've gone back to Pirelli's on my current car as performane and safety in the wet is more important the $$ to me.

I have Invos they are okay you pay for what you get. I recommend the Bridgestone RE50A I have these on my CLS AMG stock tires I hit 250km/h with confidence Invos make you grip the wheel tighter when you start hitting 130km/h its like Gucci vs Tommy Hilfiger.

Wear ratings in themselves are reasonably meaningless as they are assigned individually by each manufacturer and not to any consistent standard.

The Pilot Sport A/S is a very good tire, no question, but as an all-season tire it trades a lot of performance (compared to a max performance summer tire and a proper winter tire) for usability across a wider range of weather conditions and conditions. Dedicated summer and winter tires are still the way to go to properly exploit the performance potential of a BMW.
