I installed new plugs (DIY project) in my 2004 530i at 100k miles and saw a dramatic increase in mileage. I drive between Raleigh, NC and Charlotte, NC every Monday morning (about 180 miles) and normally average 27 mpg. This morning I achieved 31 mpg. I expected some improvement, but not 4 mpg on the same route under the same conditions. Anyone else have similar experience? I regret not having changed the plugs a year ago.

I have always replaced plugs at 50K miles. (They say platinum plugs last 100K but I don't know about that
) Oil and Plugs are the cheapest way to keep and maintain your car running at it's peak

Never been a big fan of letting plugs go to a 100K.

I changed them in 75K miles,. and it runs very smooth now. By the way I use the new tech spark plugs named Pulstar Plugs. Very good! and I don't have any problem with them until now.

It's been about 10-15 degrees cooler in the AM in the Carolina's this past week. Wonder if that could also have helped the fuel economy.
