Hey guys,

Just took my car for a software update. I complaint about the "turbo lag", and showed them the North America BMW article about the issue. Hope that will convince them to do the software update for me. Few questions, what is the most recent version? And for those that have the new software version, any comment/feedback?

vince.

with the N54 TT engines the software updates also have to do with the turbo timing/performance of the car...

pre 29.2, there was a rattle reported by n54/x35 owners...happened ti be the wastegates...

post 29.2 fixed the rattle, but this also caused a turbo lag.....now 32.2+ has been reported to fix the turbo lag of 29.2+ software...from what i have read on n54tech, members have reported the new software is even better than pre 29.2 and no rattle...GL vincent

I think that is the newest one that I know about.
Head tot he link in my sig at the E90post forum. It has the most up to date info re guarding the turbo lag situation

basically 3 categories of car
Pre Sept 07 build ( Don't think any E60's with N54's fall in to it)
Sept 07 -March 08 ( some May or June cars but very unlikely) With MSD 80
and the after March 08 build MSD 81 ( u are screwed )cars

If you fall in to the range of Sept 07 to march 08 Builds follow this TSB
http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/bullet...mp/B111307g.htm
Be persistent ( many dealers will just say they don't have the software), and you need more than just the software, you need the work on the wast gates too to really get any thing out of it long term.

more info here:

If you have no Idea how the N54 TT motor works and don't want to get hosed or brushed off by the Service dept read these:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38856

If you can't find it in that stuff , re read it... it's all there

Needs to be stickied ....

Build date for me is 11/07...luckily I have pre 29.2 SW, I know this because pre 29.2 is also free of tuner detection software, scanned my car recently with a tune that should have thrown a code..but no codes logged

Ok, here it is. I just got the car back, and yes they did put in the latest software (v.33.2). MountainView BMW was veryeasy to deal with. They didnt give me any hassle at all. Below you can find the differences between pre and post software update.

Performance: The car is very responsive to the gas pedal, almost like the sprint booster . As for the noise, I didnt hear any thing different than before.

Navigation: still look and sound the same as before, although I think it is showing the traffic congestion condition now with the new update, I may be wrong here.

Willing to listen to all your input.

I have an '09 535i (build 01/09). Does anyone know if this software update applies to my car? I can feel a microsecond lag when I push the gas pedal, but I thought that was just normal operation.
