New owner saying hi with perhaps a stupid question. I just picked up a new 550i 4 days ago. It has a very annoying pooping/creaking noise comming from the rear suspension or area when traveling over speed bumps or on rough roads. The dealer is not close and easy to deal with. I looked at the spare and everything in the trunk, nothing was loose, anything I am missing or should look for?

Could it be the door or trunk seals on a car this new?

Any feedback is most welcome, hate to think I have to take it into the dealer...

The rear springs can creak. I hear it when I get out of my car, but never while driving. I wish I could help more with the pooping noise.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new car!

I have a 2004 model and the seals of trunk creak like hell if the water freezes between the trunk lid and the trunk.
Putting silicone once in a month solves the problem.

I suggest you check the seals in trunk and clean them if there's ice. Then drive around and see itf it helps.
Good luck with it!

Mine too, but I know that Anzafin also has a point, if the weather is freezing and
there's some ice around the rear window.

Im not sure if i can be of any help at all but i dont have winters where im from but i get the exact same sounds in my car or at least what sounds close.

BMW has brought narrowed it down to a couple of broken or rather "loose" clips on the rear parcel shelf and the 3rd brake light housing.

If you give the 3rd brake light housing a slight push, you will hear said creaking sound.
Same with the rear parcel shelf on mine.

Problem is it costs heaps to replace and they wont replace mine under warranty as mine has a big hole cut in the middle of it during my ice install for the sub to sound in the cabin.. so im just turning up the stereo everytime now so i dont hear it.

i hope that was of some help?

btw: totally off topic but my E46 had this very same annoying creak and it also came from the rear parcel shelf. Im not sure if its a BMW thing?

I would let the car settle in for a couple of weeks. If it persists I would see the dealer. I don't have that sound on my 08 550.
