I just bought a 06 530i and somebody told me that i dont need to break in the car because BMW did that already. Right now i'm not enjoying the car because i'm only driving it 65-70mph
And if i need to break in the car when can i start driving it hard after 1500miles

1200 miles at less than 100 mph keeping it below 4500 rpm. Do not drive at the same rpm for an extended period of time, like cruising on the highway. After reaching about 1200 miles you can start increasing your rpm. I personally will probably violate these rules a few times during breakin so as not to lose my mind, but will use some common sense. I think the manual covers breakin procedures.

Well, that could be the case if you already have 1500 miles in the car when you bought it
it is advised to follow the proper break in rule but IMO (some members would dissagree with me here )that you probably would need about 200 miles for break in.I belive this is the case because i think Bmw already made the engine high tech enuf that a break in of 1500 whatsoever miles is not really needed.Hope it helps!
anyways welcome to the forum!!

Welcome to the forum. There are many oponions on the BMW break-in on this forum. Please do a search for break-ins or break in and you should be able to come to your own conclusion.

Some would break it in as BMW specifies. But, of course, there's the old adage "break it in slowly, and you get a slow car." Maybe the adage doesn't hold, or, maybe, you don't care if you car is fast or slow. My final answer is I don't know what you should do. I sort of broke mine in in-between. While I did not break my car in perfectly, I did not abuse it either and, thus, was considerate to the next owner. Doing so is important to me, although I intend to use the car the way intended without abusing it.

First of all, Congrat on your new e60!! Post some pictures of your new ride.

I did break in my e60 for the first 1200 miles, I want to do everything to keep my e60 in best shape.

Although I?m not a car mechanic expert, but I think if you disregard all the break-in rules, your car will not die on you for 200,000 miles. And if you are not planning to keep the car that long, who cares right??

This is true, but

DO BRAKE THE CAR IN and you'll get a much faster and reliable car!

There a number of mechanical parts in the engine that needs to find the excact fitting and even the brakes need brake in.

READ the instruction book, they have a reason for recommed the brake in period!!!
