Talking New member, who dis

Hello all, I'm Nathan or Tails (Tails is what I go by on the internet). I'm an 18-year-old nobody car boy from Georgia. I'm very into the JDM scene/cars with very little knowledge of the EDM scene/cars, but I'm willing (have) to learn everything I need to know.
So I recently acquired a silver 05 545i with a 6-speed manual, and (I think) it's a nice car (prob too nice). I've read up on the car a bit and almost instantly got confused about a lot of things like all the abbreviations and the whole coding thing. As far as I know, my engine, in particular, (the N62B44 right?) likes to bleed oil out of several different places. It's very close to hitting 200k miles and I'm kinda scared if the engine is going to dump oil or do something else catastrophic when I'm not looking.
Any advice would be nice, maybe point me in the right direction on preventative maintenance and what to look out for on my car.

Hope to make a few friends and not be a ghost!

A late welcome to the forum....best thing I can say to help us get going is do a lot of searching and reading here and on the other bmw forums with “N62” or 545i as a minimum in the search field.

Specifically on the oil bleed....the main one to keep an eye on is the alternator mounting bracket leak, if you have oil there suggest to fix that ASAP, as it could unpleasantly surprise you with dumping all oil during your drive. Plenty of threads on fixing it, just use search button here.. Rest of oil leaks are just nuisance not catastrophic.
Enjoy your new ride!
