Or into "I need an excuse to get myself an E60?"
Didn't we all?

I just traded a cherry '01 740iL (that I loved) after convincing myself that it was going to become "unreliable" after its CPO warranty expired this coming November.
The real truth is that I just wanted an E60. But at least I was able to "justify" the decision.....in my head!
LOL.

Also, I have searched and am getting cnflicting info. What is the offset of the wheels on the sport package of the 545i. I was wondering if my iForged rims will fit the car. They are 19" and have the M3 offset.
As for your concern about image, if you think about it, most people will not readily know the difference between a M3 and a regular 3 series.
About handling, I really do think that a 545/550 can keep up with M3s just fine in the tight stuff, but doing so in the M3 is simply for fun. During a speed sweepers though, the M3 feels much more stable.

If there is a CARMAX dealer around your area, take your M3 there and see how much they offer.
They won't pressure you to buy their car, and you can make the decision in 7 days or 200 miles.

Carmax will give typically about $2k less than book. Its their basic deal. They make between $1k and $2k on all preowned cars they buy & then sell. Its not a bad option if the dealer is trying to hose you even worse than that...
Check out CARMAX, there is nothing for you to lose.
ps. I am not an employee of CARMAX..

My Ride: 2003 PY M3, looking at a 545i
Wow thanks for all of the info. I was never one of the "now I have kids must get minivan", basically because I will never drive a minivan. I am not being pressured from my fiance to get a new car, she loves my M3 as much as I do. It is just the combination of no more warranty, getting married and total abuse the car is taking here in NYC. I was going to trade it in for a newer CPO M3 to make it more practical in the fact of no operating costs. Most of the newer M3s are still under the maintenance plan etc. I will look up Carmax's I have heard good things about them, but I do not know if there is one close at all. Anyway, maybe I do want an excuse to get into an E60, seems like it might be fun to NOT draw so much attention on the highway from the Troopers
