I've been curious about this, could a stock 335i beat a stock 550i? My thought is that even though there is a 60 some-odd HP difference in stock form, the weight savings of the 3 may give an advantage.

Yes I bought them from a member. He picked up an e92 m3 and gave his 550 to his girlfriend. I traded him my stock 172's plus cash. Nice fellow

Well I drove the vert which is like 400 lbs heavier than the coupe and I can tell you it felt faster and torquier for everyday driving conditions. This was because the low end torque of the e90's start at about 1500 but die on the top end, felt like past 6000 the car gave out. Now with the 550, it keeps pulling and pulling and pulling but only if I floor the peddle. But for everyday driving it feels slow cause the torque is delivered at higher rpm's. A stock 550i would edge out an e92 and keep pulling if it hits the 80's. Now put a jb3 in the e92 and ur dead.

That's what I love above these cars! I head over to Germany quite regularly so can give it some on the derestricted autobahns (freeways) and it never ceases to amaze me how this car just keeps pulling at all revs and all the way up to the (damned) limiter at 155mph / 255kph.
The E9x is always going to be the more nimble car and feel faster, however as we all know the 5er gives you a great all round driving experience Can't have been easy saying goodbye to an E92 335i -- its one of my favourite cars, such a fantastic design with the performance to match.

on board and enjoy the forum.
Congrats on the new car and love what you've done to it so far - looks great

550 Sport came with the M Tech kit, shadowline trim and the black exhaust tips.
Ahhh EuroCarFan, gotcha. The inclination of fellow members to do this mod on their 525s and 530s just became a little clearer. I'm still deciding on whether i should do this myself as it does "clean up" the profile of the car quite nicely.
