Does anyone have problems with the new & Improved Dunlops. specifically with the road roar or a thumping sound? I seem to be getting this at around 6000 miles on the new set, just like the old ones!

anyone else?

Why does BMW use Dunlop?

These are supposed to be good cars. Why can't they just use good tires?

They also gave me Bridgestones (RFT RE050) and I think they also have a better ride, so does my wife. The handling seems about the same as with the Dunlops. Did you notice a better ride with your Bridgestones?

Interesting,, I was just logging on this morning to post a question to the group about this same thing. I have 15000 miles on my 2005 530i sport and I am about 6500 miles into my second set of tires. I think the noise level and rough ride is as bad as it was at 8000-9000 miles when I got my new set. It's very loud when I exit a highway and slow to a stop....sounds like our 3 year old SUV.

I doubt BMW will care at this point. I suspect I'll get something along the lines of, you got 15000 miles on us, these are on you.

My second set of Dunlops were replaced with 7000 miles on them. They were replaced with Bridgestones. BMW has a bulletin that they will cover 100% replacement of the Dunlops with up to 20,000 miles. My second set were replaced and the 50% I paid the first time was reimbursed. So far, so good with the Bridgestones.

MATT If your intrested call Dunlop with the numbers on your tires and they will tell you if you have the new tire design or the old.Its possible they replaced them with the old design if your getting the noise again. Good luck
cheers

When BMW offered to replace my Dunlops earlier this year, I told them that I didn't want another set of Dunlops, so they gave me Bridgestones instead. So far, 10K + miles on replacements with no excessive noise or tramlining. Very happy with Bridgestones.
