Dealer called me today to tell me my car is ready for collection - picking it up Tuesday next week as its the earliest I can get there (dealer is other side of the country unfortunately) - really impressed, only placed the order on the 9th September, and was originally told week before Christmas.

Really excited now, this is my first BMW, replacing a VW Passat. It's "only" a 520d, but still feels big deal to me. I've found this forum really helpful in learning, planning and choose my new car so thanks everyone!

nice one!!

did you get sat nav?

Thanks for posting your pics, I've been looking for a picture of the fusion leather upholstery before I order another 520d to replace my current 2005 model - are you pleased with the car, the performance etc? And after a while of living with the fusion "leather" what are your thoughts on it vs. cloth trim?

Cheers

Matt

Thought I'd jump in on this thread!!

I just picked up my car on friday - almost identical spec - black / black etc. i also went for Fusion and had the same worries of how it would look / feel. its fantastic and for ?150 is a steal. my dog (a boxer so is a big lump) was all over the back seat on a 100mile trip today and didn't leave a mark. looks like leather and cleans really easily.

Also I went for the 244 wheels as well - they look great and are the best looking 17" wheels - especailly as they are only an ?80 upgrade.

Hi Brindle, thanks for your comments , very timely as I'll be ordering my car in the next week! - also going for black and strangely enough, 244 wheels! I'm a regular commuter to Hampshire from Sussex so will probably see you on the M3 / M27!

Regards

we'll have a chat and a cup of tea in the queues around fleet services!!! make sure you go for the USB - I put a 16GB memory stick in and its the single best option I've ever had on any car.

i have had a black 520d se for 13 months now - no regrets. i wondered about getting the fake leather, but the dealer put me off the idea saying it would affect future resale as UK buyers see it as like pvc upholstery. im also bad at lying so would have told everyone i had fake seats anyway! Other issue is that i wanted a grey interior - and it doesnt come in grey in that material.

beware your mpg meter - it will read approx 10% high - info on this site tells you how to trim it. i get 43-47mpg - but as its my car, not a company one - i dont thrash it. Its not a road burner, but it doesnt lack power.

enjoy - you made a good decision!

cheers

not driven the faux leather, but mines grey cloth. no complaints. leather would have been nice, but i was stretching a 320d budget to a 520d and leather would have been another 1300 pounds. A 520d se for 24k pounds was a good deal at the time i think!

The cloth wears ok, but intially looks a bit 'course' as its quite a flat material. i went for light grey, which hasnt been quite the nightmare it might be to keep clean - the black cloth on silver looks good tho.....

cheers

Congratulations Morkit!

But wait,...The steering wheel is on the wrong side!

Hope you're spending some fun time with your great new toy. I really like your interior combination.

Cheers,
-Tony
