Default New to E60, having questions and issues on 550i

Hi, my name is Ariel, i'm from Argentina.

This is my second BMW, came from a 120i, and I just bought a 2006 550i E60, with M Kit.

I just love this car, how it goes, power and speed, it's f***ng awesome! but I have some questions.

- Is it possible to upgrade iDrive and it's screen? It came with the very first versión of iDrive, and screen is very small.

- Also, it does have Logic 7 sound system, but ampli has all rear speakers not working. I tried on a dealer with another ampli, and every speaker works, but with mine, all rear speakers don't, so I'm planing on putting another ampli, I have a digital 5 channel Alpine. Do I have to change also the speakers for the Alpine, or the ones that came on the car are good enough?

- And last but not least, I'm having problem with the break, after I push it, it breaks for a couple of seconds, but still pushing the break, it feels like pressing a rock, and I have to push it real hard to make the car break.

Does anyone know what might be?

Thanks in advance for sharing you knowledge with me

I'm not sure about the iDrive and audio repairs but the brake problem is likely the vacuum pump.

I have an 06 550i with Logic 7 stereo. I believe all speakers are driven by a single amp so it's likely that the fader adjustment is bad or the connector to the rear speakers is bad/disconnected. The stock system sounds great if functioning properly.

When I took the car to the service, they disconnected it an connected another amp that worked, so I think my amp is not working.

You can upgrade your iDrive (CCC unit) to the new CIC iDrive but it will cost around 3k to do and have someone code it to your car.

^^^ what he said.

Also, do you have navigation or no? Because the screen on E60's without navigation is small, I believe about 6.5". If you have navigation, the screen is a super-wide 8.8".

There are other options as well, (although the CIC upgrade interests me) such as dynavin:
Dynavin DVN-E60 (CCC-D99+) iDrive-Style Navigation for BMW E60/E90/E63 Dynavin

I've never used their product, so I can't comment on it, other than that it exists.

For what it's worth, I have current maps on my dvd based CCC nav in my '08 550 M-sport, and the ipod adapter, so I don't have a whole lot of reason to upgrade.
