I finally took my car back to the dealer yesterday to have the tires looked, he confirmed that indeed my 2nd set of Dunlops with 8000 miles were not wearing properly. He called me today to say that BMW is still working with Dunlop to perfect their tires, the problem is not the car.

Truthfully I was beginning to wonder if the problem was active steering or system, but my SA claims the tires are just not perfected.

I have 19,000 miles on my car, when the tires are new this car is awesome but lately I have not enjoyed my car. The tires are noisy and rough in fact Iv'e stopped to check for a flat tire several times, I'm amazed at how fast the ride can deteriorate.

I don't blame BMW for trying out new technology if they didn't we would be driving very boring cars, I also applaud both my dealer and BMW for the professional way they are handling this problem.

Look at the bright side. You have gotten about 19,000 miles on tires which is about what I have gotten on non RF's in the past. Even if BMW does nothing, you are no worse off and now have the opportunity to buy a nice set of non RF's like Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not so sure I agree with your version of bright side, I had Michelin Pilot Sport tires on my car for a short time and believe it or not the car drove better with Run Flats. The Dunlop tires when new offer a great ride, I believe the car was designed for run flats.

Took my vehicle in for tire noise with approximately 9k miles. Came out with a new set of Dunlop runflats. Thanks to this board, I was aware of the Dunlop tire noise issue and subsequent recall.

Very interesting!

The E60 is for sure not developed for RF tires.

This is the first time I see anyone writing anything bad about the non RF Michelin PS2's.

Still thinking about non RF Continentals....

I'm looking for comfort, silence and non tramlining tires in the size 245/40 18"!
