New Coolant vs New Coolant?
#1
Hi Guys,
Recently did a Coolant change. The Old Coolant, that was in there how many years? had a very light green color ( but still very clear ! just like water with just a little bit green) compared to a new botle of coolant (green color).
After I changed it , a few week later I decided to check again. Compared to the old situation the coolant is not clear anymore. I took a liter out to make a photo with comparison a new bottle of coolant. What do you think happened? Because in the old situation the coolant was old but clear? Now it is almost dark green and not so clear anymore.
I used OEM Coolant from BMW. Thanks !

How did you do the coolant swap? I would bet that when you drained the system, not all the original coolant was removed(block and heater core). I would say that you only replaces 80% of the coolant so there was still old coolant in the car. and that is why it did not look like new after the swap.

Well the fact that you changed the coolant is enough since most of these cars never get fluid changes except when the computer tells you to. I would not loose any sleep over it. I follow old school fluid changes for everything except oil which I do every 7500.

None of my BMW's every had blue coolant. In fact I am not sure if I have ever seen blue coolant . The closest thing to blue coolant I have seen was when I split my head gasket and i was getting oil in my coolant hahaha.
