I feel silly asking this, and keeping this thing going but... What are the distinctive air quality traits that make you so sure that you can distinguish? (Not bashing/doubting you , just a question). Does the Lexus come with a vanilla like smell, and the Merc smells like fresh country pines or something? Is it the interior attributes of the car that helps you to distinguish the model type? (keep in mind, your're blind-folded ) Attributes being, the vault like door when you shut in on a bimmer, the feng shui like setting of ergonomics on the dash of a lexus?

Do tell, enquiring minds want to know?

The human sense of smell is among our strongest senses..... and it is the highly liked to memory. Don't you ever smell cookies baking and it reminds you of your mom or grandmom? This is an example.

Look at wine experts. They can detect the faintest hints of aromas from wines.

Anyway.. I can't describe HOW I can tell the difference. But my family has owned several Lexus cars, and a few BMWs and a Merc.... and I just know the smell. (This only works for NEW cars.... with the new smell. Once that wears off, it would be harder to tell)

And, hence, old BMWs smell alike too - different than MB, etc... You can always tell the smell of a BMW, no matter the vintage. Old BMWs sort of smell like well-worn leather mixed with a touch of engine oil aroma - kind of like an old airplane cockpit.

I've found that the Zaino leather cleaner and conditioners help keep that new car smell around.
I agree with you 550I, the zaino has that new smell the car came with

I gladly inhale the smell of a new car!

Enjoy it while it's legal

You could blindfold me, and put me in a new Lexus, BMW or Merc.... and I could tell you INSTANTLY which car is which.

No joke.
I'm right there with you. In the case of some Japanese brands, I can even tell if the car was made in North America or Japan. Even got into an argument with a sales person who insisted the car was built in Japan. A quick look at the window sticker proved the sales person wrong. Never under estimate the power of the nose.

so think of it this way, the better the car smells, (new wise) the more voc's or potentially poisonous gasses there are, right? so...

when you get into a ferrari or a lambo, why do you feel so good, even if you haven't bought it?

think about that.... make connections, and then laugh

(hint...more voc's)
