My Ride: 535d Eccelsa, 05 2005 (built 12-04), sapphireblack, beige dakota leather, electric seats, poplar wood trim, sport suspension, 124 style 18" alloys, differentiated f/r runflat tyres, steptronic, adaptive light control, bi-xenon, BMW PRO nav, cd, cd changer, electric-foldable and automatic antidazzle rear mirrors, automatic antidazzle internal rear mirror, adjustable central armrest, BT, Hifi Professional LOGIC7 , extended functions aircon, full lighting package, green comfort fascia on windshield, PDC park distance control, voice control, CPT9000 car phone, BMW Assist, BMW On-line, BMW Tracking, alarm system, programmable remote controls.
Picked up the new 535d last wednesday. This evening, I noticed the first problem: the doors don't unlock automatically when I pull out the key from the dashboard. The centralized locking push-button works fine, the remote key control too. Until this evening the doors locked/unlocked correctly, without any problem.
What have I messed up? Is it a programmable function ? This evening it's too late to check, but tomorrow I need to investigate and find THE solution; I can't even imagine to start again to complain with the SA about defects!
Pls. anybody knows if it's just a stupid thing or a fault by myself?

I don't think they supposed to automatically unlock when you take the key off the switch...
If they do, we share the same problem, but I doubt it..

I've never heard of the feature that unlocks all doors when the key is removed from the ignition. If your car did this in the past, that's when you had the problem...everything is fixed now!

With the new 535d, it worked the same for the first three days but not tonight. There must be something wrong, maybe my son played a little bit with the i-drive chasnging the setting or, maybe, there something related with the manual activation of doors lock (you know, the pins on the doors). Don't you have the same function in USA?
One of my peeves is that the doors do not automaticallly lock until ground speed gets up to 10 mph. My wife's Lincoln, which has always had features galore, can be programmed to lock all doors when any gear is engaged. You can always unlock them with central control.

And when you open the door from the inside they don't unlock then ? Does the interior light come on when you remove the key ?

Maybe the all unlock feature is something that you have in Europe. If so, I bet there is a setting in iDrive with the rest of the door lock settings (in the i menu).
US cars do not have this feature, at least not with the version of software I have (13.3) and based on the state of legal affairs over here, I doubt BMW will add such a feature to our cars...
