These are a couple of pics taken for the Autotrader ad I bought it from.

This weekend I hope to take some proper ones.

I haven't got a clue. Looks like a lovely dark burgundy red metallic sort of colour, but as to its proper name I don't know. It's the only one I've seen like it so far.

Is it fairly unusual?

It`s either Carbon red or one of the individual colours. The only red available in the normal E60 paint list for the UK was solid red or carbon red (metalic paint like mine) or via the special order individual options. Looks very nice to say the least. Nice find.

That color is awesome. If you pop the hood there will be a plate stating the color name in German.

Just been and had a look, it says "Rot", not exactly descriptive as I think this just means red. I can't see a paint code anywhere, so I'm still at a mystery.

"ROT" is german for red. Not very descriptive, need the options list it will tell you exactly what it is.

Just phoned the previous owner who seems to recall that it was a special order colour called "Indianapolis Red", but he can't be sure.

Googled some BMW's in that colour and it does look similar, although mine seems a little darker, but it is difficult to tell from web photos.

Thanks again.

OOOOOOOh! lucky son of a bitch! If It`s Indianapolis red then it will be a special order as that`s an M5 only colour. Probably the only regular E60 in the UK in that colour. Unique springs to mind.

It's good to be different in a way that doesn't involve Surgeons tutting and scratching their heads.
