Here are some pics and first impressions of my new 550. The car definitely feels faster than my previous 545 (2-05 build). I don't know how much faster at the low end, but at the high end it could be seconds faster, especially between 135 and 150. Whereas the 545 took significant time to get from about 135/140 to the restricted top speed, the 550 just zips to it. I could hit top speed at will. Raced with an S4 above 120/130 to top speed and passed him with ease -- more like passing AND pulling away until hitting top speed AFTER changing back into the right lane, just shows how much quicker it was than the S4 at those speeds.

Now regarding the pics, just don't complain that I should not have driven it so hard with less than 50 miles on the odometer (like some people on another board). My response if you do: my car and I will drive it the way I want to, you can drive yours the way you want to .

Enjoy the pics...

fq1, I am just curious as to why the car came without the sports package? Did you drive both and liked the non-sport better? I am sorry if I had missed a previous discussion about this topic.

I have tried the older RFTs and did not like the ride on rough city roads (Chicago). I have not tried the new ones though, which could be better. I could always swap them out, but I did not want to go through that expense even though I was really upset about not being able to have SMG by not going the sport route. As far as steering feel is concerned, in my opinion, the non-sport wheel is just as responsive and sharp with great feedback. The main difference is the body roll on the non-sport. Mind you, it is not excessive (it's still a BMW) but still not as perfect as the sport.

PS: I have tried a 330 with RFTs and that car rides fine with them, so the new RFTs might actually be better.

Yeah, I believe the 2007 E60s with runflats are being shipped with the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFTs. As least that was what came with our tester at Mortorwerks. I have not experienced the Dunlops, but have heard enough bas stuff about it. Regardless, enjoy your car, it looks absolutely stunning! Nw back to waiting for our 550i.

Besides acceleration, does the 550 feel any different than the 545 at high speeds?
After 120, my 545's front end gets a bit lighter than what I expect. Does the 550 impove on this and feel more solid?
