Hi Newbie here,

Picked up a new 09 528 X-Drive a few weeks ago.
I immediately noticed a bit more feedback/feel to bumps in the front end then I'm used to from bimmers.
Car tracks steady and is tight but i'm noticing a little "harshness" or sensitivity to even slight bumps.

I've driven a few 06 and 07 525 and 530 CPO's and they were fine.
I also drove a 08 525 that was fine.

Dealer says there is a "Brake in" period for the suspension and it is not uncommon for a little harshness or hypersensitivity for the first few thousand miles.

Not sure I'm buying that..

Any thoughts ? Did anything change on the 09 528 suspension ? Anyone else notice this or have a problem ?

Andy

Not sure of changes to the '09, but most cars I've had feel tight when they are new. The engine, brakes, suspension, all have a break-in period of some kind.

Hey M3Andyp,

Get rid of the RF tires and all will be well.

Even I am thinking of RF tires and not sure about break in period though, Suspension (dampener) also has rings and piston which should have its break in by its first few (perhaps couple?) full compression and expansion.. JMHO..

Many members here have complained about the ride harshness from RFTs and have swapped them out with non-RFTs. My car came with non-RFTs and it rides niiiice.

Your Xi probably doesn't have Run flats. And someone else already said there is a break in period with new tires, brakes, steering, suspension.
It should be on your owners manual.
