After just purchasing my wife a New 09 X5 for Christmas my dealer reminded me that my lease expires in October. As she is enjoying her new bimmer white on saddle nevada, which looks amazing, I have started to dream about my next 5. Anyone else getting a new one this year? I know we are caught between the f10 but I think that is going to be okay. Before I know it the decision will be what will the new color cobmination be and will it be a 528 or 535. Currently driving a 530i not sure which way I will go, but I can't wait. I love my silver grey but the grey interior is rather boring, looking for a more exciting combination after seeing how well the wife's turned out, any thoughts? Hope you all have a great New Year.

Don't hold your breath for the f10.
The way the european car market has bombed, that project may well get slowed down a little.
launch costs are tremendous, so delaying launch until people start buying cars again will be a smart move.

Get a 09 5 series. I love both the 528 and 535. Go with a blue or black or green with Natural Brown Leather!!!!
There's never been any mention of it coming in 2009. All reports say either 2010 or 2011. I saw one a few weeks ago near BMW HQ. It was all taped up, but I recognized the grill from spy shots. Followed it for a while in the hope that it would stop and I'd get some good pics, but it snook through a light that was changing to red and left me behind

Yeah I nkow I am going to be short a couple of months on the projected date of the f10. Looks like it will be an 09 which I love the looks of my 07 so not too upset about that. What really surprised me was when talking with my dealer about my wife's, he told me buy hers now because effective January BMW is marking up all vehicles 7 percent. With the prices of BMW's that is several thousand in the sticker, which surprises me a bit in this current economic climate.

Just a couple of months ago your Platinum Gray was the bomb.
I say try a cream beige interior with a Platinum Gray exterior. Looks very sporty and oh so rich. Now I'm talkin'!!

I read autospies, the magazines (esp. car and evo) and the message boards, such as our wonderful e60.net, and it is my clear recollection that the F10 5 series was initially thought to be a model year 2010 vehicle, which would go on sale here in Oct. 2009. I have read plenty of contradictory dates since then, but I've also seen so many pics of test mules.
As an avid car enthusiast and BMW nut, I wouldn't be shocked to see a new 5 in dealerships before year's end. But then again, as someone pointed out, launch dates can be moved. The 550 (and I know I'm going to get heat for this) is not that dissimilar to the 545i. Yes they changed the engine, transmission, suspension, body kit, wheels, various interior trimmings I know. This made a good car great IMHO, but the bones of the car are the same. So the 5 has been around for 6 years now. Time for a new one. The last 5 came out the model year after the 7. The new 7 is a 2009 model year. So why can't the F10 be a 2010 model year (on sale in fall of the preceding year)?
Of course I'm not indifferent since my lease is up this November.....
I love the 5, but I would never get an 08' with the F10 coming. I'd re-lease for 12 months. Buying the 5 off lease at the original residual, irrespective of the rate, guarantees being upside down for 3 years or longer IMHO with the way the pre-owned luxury sedan market has been performing of late.

I almost went with that look, but almost everyone I asked told me to go with black because the beige didn't look well with the platinum gray. Unfortunately the dealer didn't have a plat gray/beige combo for me to see in person.
I had a Platnium Gray / Gray Leather 528 and i have shots of that if you need to see them.
The other member has Platnium Gray / Beige Leather 535 and it looks good in the pics!!
I wasnt too fond of the Gray leather, but it looks good in Platnium Gray.
If you really want something nice and different - go with Platnium Bronze / Natural Brown!!!
