Exclamation

Has anyone noticed that the new V8 engine cover in the 550i/750i looks like a prize fighter/boxer raising his arms in victory. (The BMW logo plate is his head)

Thanks for the pic E60Speed!

The 4.8 V8 has been out since the 04 X5 4.8is so as far as reliability it should be OK right? Will the 550i have the same tranny as the X5 4.8is?

The 550i is very tempting considering the performance increase. (rumoured sub 5 second 0 to 60 time) Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Actually the 4.8is engine was modified to conform to the new 750i/650i/550i engine asof January 2005 production, nothing to major modified

The tranny is the similar ( slight change to base model, but 545i also used a similar one )

My recently purhased 545i is the most powerful car I've ever owned, I have a hard time finding places/opptys where I can actually floor it. I feel like I never get a chance to open it up because doing so puts you in violation of traffic laws practically speaking. I can't imagine what I would do with sub - 5 second 0-60 capability.

Even with 530, it's still already powerful. 545 and 550 are real beast.

530iii-as a former 530 owner who moved up to a 545, I would highly recommend the upgrade if you can afford the insurance (and the gas).Worth every penny IMHO. ED will save you big time $$, of course.
