Just wanted to know if anyone here is having official information on when they plan to launch the new 3.0 Valvetronic engine it on 5ers. I know tomorrow they'll launch it on 6er (630) and most probably the new 3er will have it too. Are there any official information on this?
Someone here on the forum, said that March 2005, but I cannt recollect if it is official or magazine rumours...

You mean E46 3er, not E90/E91 one, right? IMHO I don't think a e90 3er will exist before MY2006...
MY2005 3er and 5er cars are already started production IIRC. Will they update the 330 and 530 cars midyear?

It just feels really bad when you know that the engine you bought will be rendered obsolete by a bigger and better engine in less than a year after you bought your car. :'(
Oh well, at least it's a reason to change cars soon!!!

Sorry, I meant rumor has it that the new engine will be rolled out in the MY06 5er and E90 3er.

I am more of a power guy thank a torque guy. However, I feel that the most important feature of the new 3.0 engine will be not as much the power increase from 231 to 258 HP, but instead of 300 Nm at 3500, IIRC, the same amount of torque, but from 2500-4000 rot/min. This increase in torque combined with the increase in power and the mileage will make it a winner.

My Ride: E90 330i Sport & E46 323Ci
I have spoken to many dealers about this & what BMW will probably do is keep the 2005 model year short for the E46;;then around Springtime or so they will introduce the new 2006 E90 models with the new engines (& higher prices).BMW could easily make an early introduction of the 2006 5 Series with at least one of the new engines in the Spring as well (for the U.S.). I think they did that with the year 2001 E39 when the 3.0 liter engine was first introduced
