I read an article in a recent BMW magazine about the new 245bhp engine in the 330d. Will this engine be making it's way to the 5 series in the 530d? Also, if yes, will it also make its way to to the 535d? If it will then it could see the 535d with over 300 bhp as standard.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

I've been monitoring the German forums and motor-press, and have not seen anything that would suggest the new 245ps 3.0d engine will find its way into the E60 / E61. Until now its only in the new face-lift 330d and the all new F1 730d.
You're right to mention the x35d though. The 330d is very close to the 335d now performance wise, with improved efficiency, so BMW will have to do something with the x35d engine... certainly something to look forward too... not sure if they'll break the 300ps mark with it though

That engine has not been announced for the US market.
Currently, the only announced 2009 diesel offerings are the 335d and the X5d in the US. Both with the more powerful engine (265hp and 425 lb/ft torque)
I think BMW is correctly feeling cautious about mixing its message. Its US image is that of pure driving performance and pedigree. Muddying that with a message of "economy" is risky.
That said, I'd like to see the 118d or 120d engines exported in our 1 series offering.
Interestingly, BMW USA has already stated that the 335d is faster than the 335i from 0-60 by .2 of a second. This was found in the text of an article last year in the BMW magazine.

Not even the MY '09 E92/93 has got it, only the LCI E90/91 + the new 730d F1.
A renewed x35d is also around the bend with some 300 hp and 600 Nm.
