Not yet. I can't seem to locate with all those panels and other crap under the car. I'll taking it to the dealer on Tuesday and pay to have them track it down. I can't get underneath even with a set of ramps to see anything. looks to me like it leaking all over! I'm sure glad I've held on the M3! I may be putting on more miles on it that originally planned......

I was using the set of ramps to fix my car. You need to take out both plastic shields in order to see anything. If that is not enough, you will need to take out the metal reinforcement plate.
Let us know what is the total amount on the quote ;-). I would expect $1700-$2000 for both valve cover gaskets. If you need to replace the upper chain cover gaskets that will add another $600-$800 to the bill.

Yep there is good reason these things have no resale valve, and its not because they are a luxury car. If you buy a old car especially a a high tech one such as the BMW you have to expect things like this.

Thanks again for all the feedback.
It's just frustrating that is seems like it's one thing after another.

Got the diagnostic and price on the oil leaks from the dealer. Both upper timing covers and both valve cover are leaking. They said 16 hours of labor at a cost of $$$$$2,324.00!!!!!
I'm contacting some independent shops this afternoon to get their pricing.

The dealer also found the front lower control arm bushings bad and wants $587.00 to replace. Is this something I could tackle? I replaced the entire arms on my 95 525i. I'm thinking of replacing the arms myself.
Any DYI that I can reference?

You can tackle the whole job as long as you take your time and have the confidence, just farm out the alignment. Make sure to replace the hold down grommets on the valve covers too as it will be a waste to put new gaskets and not have enough clamping pressure to keep them sealed.

Are urethane lower control arm bushings available for the 545i? I haven't found any on the web.

I was looking also for urethane bushings for 545i, but I didn't find anything.
Meyle is starting the production of HD bushings and control arms for E60. Hope to find them on-line soon. I need to replace both tension control arms in my car.

This is a good DIY for control arms

Found a local independent shop that will do the oil leaks for $1143.00! This seems like heaven after the stealers price.
Thanks for everyones help on this issue.
Anyone change out a fuel door locking actuator?
