530i all the way, and do not worry about the snow, so you will be 10# more careful and not have a fake confidentiality in your 4wd so you go at crazy speeds in the snow I did 130km/h but no changing lanes then no probs, if you do not do this of course the car will swurf...good luck and be happy havin' a neat dad like that

I think the 530i is the way to go too. If you want to make the Bimmer a little faster, there should be more Dinan mods coming in the near future for the car.

Another point is that since you will be getting a used STi, I would feel much better getting the used 530i from your dad because you know how it was driven. I doubt the previous owner of the STi did the same.

used STi??? well it is not the same as new Sti or a dad's car....
I never trust used cars.... I would rather buy cheaper car but new....
There is no way to find all about a used car..... so only option for a used car is a person I know very well..... like dad maybe

that is what would make my decission.
besides no point for STi in the US.... too many speed limits and straight lined city roads..... STi is good for out of town, country side roads..... but for a city or highway it is useless and higly uncomfortable.....

good choice. go for the 530i.... it is much more wide-scope useable.... plus you can do many different mods
the STi is just a great go-kart......IMHO not a car for daily city and commute drive
