I know most of you will say your are a spoiled brat or you shouldn't have either cars, if that's you don't say anything. I have a few patents that are being sold to various companies and I will be recieving around $25,000.00 dollars for them. I know a good deal about cars, but not nearly as much as all of you do. I have taken autobody 1 and 2 at my school and am taking autotech and high performance autotech next year. Until this website I was planning on purchasing a Subaru Wrx STi. My dad owns a 2004 530i. So I have a choice of either buying his 530 from him or getting a used STi. I know most of you will say what do you think you're pposting in a bimmer forum. I just want to hear what you all would do, I also live in New Jersey and it does snow here, one big reason for me getting an STi. Thanks.

Bargain hard with your dad. Use the used-car-customer tactics. Threaten to disown him. And walk off with his keys

I'd guess your dad won't want to charge you much for the 530i so I'd strongly recommend going for it, you might not be able to get to 60mph as fast, but it'll still be quick, exclusive and a joy to drive.
BTW - it sounds like you've earned this money - so I can't see why anyone would call you a spolied brat

Scooby WRX is a bit of a 'turbo nutter' 530i is a fast smooth cruiser.

Thanks, that disclaimer was a sort of insurance. I drive the bimmer every once and a while and the ride is the smoothest I've ever drove. It was hard to belive I was actually doing eighty in it when I thought I was doing forty. But the real thing here is wether I'm willing to sacrafice speed for comfort. I think I'm going to go with the bimmer. I shouldn't need any more speed then that already has. Another question came into my head while I was getting excited about the decision I just made. Do people put different engines in the 530? If so, is it for speed?
The 3.0litre straight six in the 530i is the REASON for the car. To change the engine would be a crime.
Having said that, I am sure that there are plenty of tuning / mod options to go through to get some extra poke.

If you ask my opinion, both are quick enough.
But you should think at what it will be worth if you want to sell it again... And then in my opinion you should be better off with your dads 530i because i heard already from several people that Subarus won't sell as good as a BMW.
And the E60 is much more beautiful than the Subaru
