Need urgent help: trunk won't open

When I try using remote or through the button inside the car, I hear a click noise, but nothing happens, I have charged my car battery, just in case... but no luck yet.

My car is 2008 BMW 528i

Will really appreciate some help !!!!

I had that happen on my E39 and it ended up being the trunk release needing to be replaced.

Have you tried the key at the trunk itself? This sounds like a broken wire in the wiring harness running through the trunk hinge tube.

Fixed

Good news: I was able to open the Trunk with the key, buy putting some force counter clock wise, then I investigated all the wires (common problem in BMW), and volla, found the a broken wire and friends, see picture... I put tape around scratched ones, and tied the broken brown wire.. put some more black tape.. and the Trunk open/close works fine !!! I would like to do a better job in repairing these wires, any suggestions??

Cut all the wires. Solder them. Use shrink wrap tubing. All should be well. Watch some videos if you have never soldered before.

Disagree. Use butt crimps. And cover with fabric tape like the factory used. If you have trouble finding fabric tape, hockey tape is similar.

Soldered joints are excellent when used in no-flex situations - this is a high flex situation. Soldered joints will fail quickly due to the individual strands being bonded where the solder stopped wicking up the wire.

You may have to open the trunk manually with your key, a common problem on this cars, is on the wires on the arm trunk. Inside the arm you will find the wires, the movement of opening and closing causes the wires to peel and touch each other, that make the control and the button of the dash can not open it
