Hi,

I'm currently working on the german wikipedia article about the BMW E60. The information page of e60.net is quite nice as a reference, but two engines are missing.

I need the engine codes (such as M54B22) of the following two engines:

520i, 4 cylinders, 1995 cm?, 125 kW (170 HP) @ 6.700 min, 210 Nm @ 4.250 min, which is being built since 09/2007

523i, 6 cylinders, 2497 cm?, 140 kW (190 HP) @ 6.300 min, 235 Nm @ 3.500 min, has been built from 2007 to 2007

Would be nice if you could help me

Thanks in advance,
sese

My guess would be N46B20C (from the 120 & 320) and N52B25BE maybe BF.

What's the difference between N46B20C and N46B20? Or N52B25BE, N52B25BF or N52B25?

I would think the last letter differentiates the engines based on small changes that can be seen easiest in hp ratings: e.g. the 118 uses the N46B20B and has 127 hp, where the 318 used the A and had a bit more hp. The 520 is listed as 170hp, so that would indicate yet another iteration as the C only had 148 in the 120i. I haven't looked into the detailed differences in the engines to know what to attribute the hp changes to.

Thanks a lot

Do you also know the engine code of the E90/E92 M3 with 420 HP?
