I would never paint it, its irreversible(not cheaply/quickly anyway) Just have it wrapped or plastidip it so you achieve the look you want and can revert back to white at a moments notice.

^ Isn't it a pretty cheap OEM part? Just buy a couple and spray them different colors. You can't beat a "professionally" painted look.

NOTHING OEM is cheap, nor is "spraying" anything....have you seen the quality / advancements in vinyl / wrap material these days? Specially for flat colors, I would take vinyl over matte professional paint any day! Far more protective, better color quality and way more durable, cheaper than paint plus its reversible, you cant lose

*EDIT* Actually getbmwparts.com has the diffuser for $45+shipping, vinyl wrapped would be less but still $45 isnt bad for this part. The other side note, seperate diffusers means pulling the bumper to swap them out, with vinyl no removal of bumper, much simpler.

^ Glad you edited because I was about to link getbmwparts and PWN you

Not sure why you put "spraying" in quotes... I'm not talking rattle can. This trim piece is relatively small so it doesn' cost much to paint, especially if you're not paint-matching it or pick a pearl paint.

ANYWAY, I do agree with you that vinyl is a much better solution if you like to change the appearance of your car frequently or if you go matte. However, glossy vinyl cannot even come close to a clean, polished black painted part.

^^ yeah glad I checked the part price spraying and/or painting is usually not cheap, not even for as small a part as this. Not trying to argue or anything but the hassle of buying the part, paying to have it painted and then having to remove the bumper all to find out you may or may not like it just doesnt seem the route to go. And while I somewhat agree that there is nothing like a freshly buffed/waxed glossy black paint job, I beg to differ on the vinyl comment. Check my wrapped roof below (and its not even washed/clean), quality vinyl shines just as good as paint and is alot more difficult to get microfine scratches like black paint does.
