Ok, I need some input on something. I purchased a set of winter wheels on here from another member who stated that they estimated that the tread life was "70%" when in fact the real tread life is closer to 25% or 1/4". Now I can live with a little difference but 70% and 25% is a big difference. The wheels and tires orginally from tirerack where $1300 and I paid $620 with shipping. What should I do?

Most people on the forum are pretty cool, so it may have just been an honest mistake. I'd just contact the guy, explain the situation, and see if he'll refund part of your $$. I've had a couple of e-Bay deals happen like that and usually people are reasonable, especially when estimates and other gray areas are involved. 2 cents.

I would contact the member and ask him for a good percentage of your money back and use them thru this winter. You could just ask him for the money back, and send the tires back, but thats alot of hassle and it would cost both you and him addition moneys for shipping.

If you really wanted to get technical you can go to sears or autozone buy a $5 tire gauge see how much tread is left and compare to the manufactures spec, and that would give you the real tread life amount. But in all fairness that person owes you money.

If he's a good person and member he'll work a deal out with you, and if he's not, just out him on the forums.

I have a gauge that I used to measure them which showed 1/4" left. Hopefully he will give me some $$ back. If not I will surely post some feedback.
